- 9.5 km (6 mi) SW of Barbarosa, 7 km (4.4 mi) SE of New Braunfels.
- Named for August Wilhelm Schumann (1791-1858) who came to Guadalupe County in 1846 from Germany. After purchasing a large parcel of land, he sold lots along the Guadalupe River to German immigrants. The settlement soon became known as Schumannsville.
