He served as an Independence County Judge and state representative. Landers Cemetery established in the NE corner of his farm, near Dota Creek; named after a fellow statesman. R.H. passed this farm & cemetery to his son James Albert Griffin, who passed it to son Robert 'Henry' Griffin, who in turn passed it to youngest son Jack Griffin. James Albert and Robert 'Henry' are interred at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, 1.4 miles N of Landers Cem.
