- This village is a suburb of Sells, although it is in the Baboquivari Ddistrict. Its traditional name, 'Kumkachutz Wawasit,' or 'Turtle Stuck' is now used by the Papagos of Sells, no alternative Papago name exists for Artesa (US-T121). The origin of the name, is not known. The Indian name 'Komoktetuvavosit' in Papago means 'where the turtle was caught' (AZ-T101/p. 259).
