- Located in north-central Kentucky, 32 km (20 mi) north-northeast of Frankfort; County Seat: Owenton.
- Established in 1819, named for Colonel Abraham Owen (1769-1811), who was killed in the Battle of Tippecanoe. He also served in the Kentucky Legislature. (KY-T1/p223)
