- Located in southwestern Kentucky along the boundary with Tennessee, about 16 km (10 mi) west of Hopkinsville; County Seat: Cadiz.
- Established in 1820, named for Colonel Stephen Trigg who served in the Virginia Legislature. He was killed in the Battle of Blue Licks on 19 August 1782. (KY-T1/p298)
