- Incorporated in 1881 as Keyser and named for an official of the Raleigh and Augusta Airline Railroad. The town name was changed in October 1918 to Addor in honor of Felix Addor, a local soldier who was killed while serving on the ship S S Leviathan in March 1918. (NC-T11/p4)
