- Located in southeastern Nebraska, about 51 km (32 mi) south of Lincoln; County Seat: Beatrice.
- Named for William D Gage (1803-1885), a Methodist minister who served as chaplain of the First Territorial Assembly in the middle 1850s. Gage County was established and boundaries defined on 16 March 1855 and reestablished and redefined on 26 January 1856. (NE-T18/p63)
