- Located in Chugach National Forest on the N shore of Sawmill Bay, on the SE coast of Evans Island, Prince William Sound.
- Native American name. The residents of this community formerly lived at Chenega on Chenega Island, but were forced to relocate to Crab Bay on Evans Island in the years following the 1964 Alaska earthquake. In 1998, the BGN approved a proposal to change the name of the community of Crab Bay to Chenega Bay. In 2019, the BGN made official the name Chenega to recognize the name established in the community’s charter.
