- 'Kuakatch' is a Papago Indian name that means 'end of mountain'. 'Walls Well' was named by Frederick Wall, a miner who dug a well south of the Papago village. The name was transferred to the village as 'Wall' on Roskuges 1893 map and as 'Wall Well' or 'Pozo de Federico' and 'Kookatsh' by Carl Lumholtz in 1912 (US-T121).
