- Perhaps, once upon a time, Cooksey was a thriving community. Had a Post Office from 1905 to 1912. Today, there are only two abandon farms with several fallen down buildings and a few others ready to fall. There is one nice farm house nearby with a mail box. George W. Cooksey, Sr., was well known in Dent Co. and there are many Cookeys in Cooksey Cemetery, which is still well maintained and about 1/2 mile north of "town" location.
