- Located 4 km (2.5 mi) W of New Horse Springs, 11.3 km (7 mi) SW of Horse Mountain and 56 km (35 mi) NE of the county seat of Reserve.
- This community was originally known as Horse Springs and was the original location of the Horse Springs Post Office which operated from 1879 until 1882. Reportedly this community was named by soldiers who lost one of their horses along their journey from Socorro to Fort Tularosa but found the animal at this site on their return trip.
