- Located in eastern South Dakota, 72 km (45 mi) northwest of Sioux Falls; County Seat: Howard.
- Created in 1873, organized in 1880, and named for the Miner brothers, Ephraim (born 1833) and Captain Nelson Miner (1827-1879), both of whom were members of the Territorial Legislature when the county was created. (SD-T17/p30-31)
