- Founded in 1878 and named after the Bengal Tiger mine. The success of the mine brought approximately 500 residents and many businesses to the town site. When the mines closed, the town faded and its residents moved to other, more vibrant communities, taking most of the businesses with them. (SD-T17/p135)
