- Located in the extreme southwest portion of Kentucky, along the Mississippi River and the boundaries with Missouri and Tennessee, about 64 km (40 mi) southwest of Paducah; County Seat: Hickman.
- Established in 1845, named for Robert Fulton (1765-1815) an artist and inventor who set sail the first commercially successful steamboat in America up the Hudson River IN 1807. The ship was named the Cermont. (KY-T1/p111)
