- Consville was the portion of Brownington west of West Street and south of Second Street.
- Laid out adjacent to Consville in 1869 and named by the people for Mr. Browning, who had been a large slave owner, and who owned the land the church was built on, rather than for Mr. Consollis who was a Republican. (MO-T101/SHS-MO/1933). Consville was established in 1867 by Captain J. O. Consollis, a native of New York, and a Republican. Brownington thrived, and later absorbed Consville.
