- Located in eastern Nebraska, 90 km (56 mi) northwest of Omaha; County Seat: West Point.
- Named for Thomas B Cuming, Acting Governor of the Territory of Nebraska from 1854-1855 and 1857-1858. Cuming County was established by an act of the Territorial Legislature in 1855 and approved on 16 March 1855. The boundaries were redefined on 12 February 1857 and 10 January 1862. (NE-T18/p44)
