- Eskimo name reported by Captain C. W. Raymond, USA, in 1869, as "Kochkogamute." U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) called it "Kochkomut" in 1898. This was a small settlement in 1916, consisting of about three cabins. It has the same number today.
