- Platted in 1869 by the Sioux City and Pacific Railroad Company. The community was originally named Bell Creek, for the Bell family who settled on the banks of a stream which became known as Bell Creek. The name of the community was changed to Arlington in 1882 after the city along the Potomac River in Virginia. (NE-T18/p142)
