- Located along the French Broad River.
- Named for the thermal springs located in the town in 1778. The community became a health resort in 1800. Originally called Warm Springs, the community's name was changed to Hot Springs in 1886 and incorporated in 1889. During WWI an internment camp for Germans was held here.
