- Was there an actual community called Dent Ford? Dent Co. was named after Lewis Dent for whom the county was named. He had a farm close to the east side of the ford. Now the road going east from the ford goes only a short distance to Dent Cemetery and then a little further into woods and farm land. The ford is deep and requires a high vehicle.
