- Located in the east-central portion of Nebraska, 129 km (80 mi) NW of Lincoln; County Seat; Osceola.
- The boundaries of Polk County were defined and established by an act of the State legislature, approved on 26 January 1856. The County was officially organized by election process on 6 August 1870.
