- Located in northern Kentucky along the Ohio River and the boundary with Indiana, about 80 km (50 mi) northwest of Lexington; County Seat: Warsaw.
- Established in 1798, named for Albert Gallatin (1761-1849), a native of Switzerland who served as Secretary of the Treasury under two Presidents: Jefferson and Madison. He later served as Minister to France from 1816 to 1823 and Minister to England from 1826 to 1827. (KY-T1/p112)
