- In ‘History of the Minnesota Valley - including the Explorers and Pioneers of Minnesota’, by Rev. Edward D. Neill, written in 1882, the following is written: ‘A cemetery on section 8 was established in 1862, and the first burial therein was Theresa Vokenant, daughter of Jacob Volkenant, who located on section 7 in 1856. She died in 1863.’
In ‘Compendium of History and Biography of Carver and Hennepin Counties, Minnesota’, written in 1919, it states: ‘In 1862 a cemetery was established on section 8, a mile and a half west of Swan Lake, and near schoolhouse No. 43.’ - 44.869684744° 52' 10.9"N-93.864411293° 51' 51.9"W
