• Note:
  Today Lake Spring is a nice community consisting of a few nice houses, a post office (the first in Dent Co. founded in 1850), and a small store in an old building. At one time Lake Spring competed with Salem for the county seat of Dent Co., but lost out. In the Civil War the school academy and other structures were destroyed. In early twentieth century it had several churches and a mill near the spring.
