- Book by Ruth Petracek The Lamar Legacy--John McCann Lamar was very affluent and he an Mary owned a lot of land in and around Lamar Station, Missouri. They deeded to the town of Elmo, Missouri a 14 block area which was known as the Lamar Addition.
My family said that Lamar Station was so big it took you a whole day to ride across it and there was a post office in the middle of it. Candy Lamar Worner 8/20/2012 Named for it founder John Lamar.
