- Named for the Cherokee Chief Dark Cloud. the Cherokee form of the name is Oologulah which means "clouds". Although the County Clerk of Rogers County recommends Oolagah as the correct usage, the OK Geological Survey has consistently used Oologah, the PO lists Oologah, the Census lists Oolahah.
