- The geographic center, or that point on which a surface of uniform thickness would balance, for the state is located in Boone County, 22.5 km (14 mi) north-northwest of Indianapolis.
- Statehood: 11 December 1816. Coined name for a tract of land in Pennsylvania developed by the Indiana Company and ceded by Indians in 1768.
