- Located in southern South Dakota along the boundary with Nebraska, 121 km (75 mi) south of Pierre; County Seat: Winner (located in Tripp County).
- Created in 1909 and named for John Blair Smith Todd (born 1814), the "father of Yankton" city. He also served as the first Delegate to Congress from the Dakota Territory. (SD-T17/p34)
